Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue Modifications

$ 119.95

Release the classic Fender tone hiding in your Blues Deluxe. The Blues Deluxe sounds good and is fairly reliable — the Fromel Supreme kit takes it the rest of the way. The flabby, dark bottom end is gone; what you get is full, warm, classic Fender tone with sparkling top end, plus fixes for the amp's few common trouble spots.

This kit fits the Reissue (Made in Mexico) Blues Deluxe. Have the original USA-made Blues Deluxe? Use the USA version here →

Which option should I order?

  • Supreme — the complete tone-and-reliability transformation (all the mods below). Start here.
  • Recap — filter & cathode cap refresh with MOD Filter Caps and top shelf components; recommended every ~10 years.
  • Have us install — send us your amp and we'll do the whole job (parts + labor).

Most players with basic soldering skills can finish the mods in a couple of hours using our detailed, illustrated instructions.

Everything the Supreme kit upgrades (full breakdown)

Tone Stack — Loses the farty bottom, honky mids, and muddiness. High-quality WIMA caps at corrected values for the Bass and Mid, and an MLCC in place of the cheap ceramic Treble cap, so the amp sounds huge and warm with sparkle instead of dark and buried.

Twin Mod — Tightens the mids and cleans up a flabby bottom, and lets you pull mids fully out for more versatility — a single jumper wire for far better tone control.

Brightness — Adds sparkle at low volumes, then eases off as you turn up so the amp never gets brittle when loud.

Power Resistors — Many Blues Deluxe problems (especially on older units) trace to the switching power resistors. Two new ones, installed properly, head off trouble down the road.

Plate Load Resistors — Replaced with 1% ½-watt metal-film resistors, curing the loud crackle/static these amps can develop and adding richer harmonic overtones.

Reverb Mod — Stops the reverb washing out past 3 (especially at low volume) for fuller, more natural, more controllable reverb.

Global Master Volume Mod — Makes the Master Volume work on both the clean and drive channels.

Input Jack Module — The stock jacks are soldered straight to the circuit board, where plug tension can damage it. This replaces them with a custom input module (jacks on their own board), with 1% metal-film resistors for lower noise.

Proper Lead Dress — Clear instructions for twisting and routing the internal wiring the way boutique amps do, for lower noise and less oscillation.

Electrolytic Cap Upgrade — Replaces all power-filter and cathode-bypass caps with high-quality MOD Filter Caps and top shelf components.
