Epiphone Valve Junior Modifications
$ 59.95
Small amp, big tone. The Epiphone Valve Jr can be noisy and thin stock — these mods make it quieter, more reliable, and full-sounding, with tone that rivals boutique amps costing many times more. It may be small, but it doesn't have to sound small.
Fits all versions of the Valve Jr, both the Head and the Combo.
Which option should I order?
- Supreme — the complete kit: every mod below, with parts and illustrated instructions.
- Have us install — send us your amp and we'll do the whole job (parts + labor).
With basic soldering skills, most players can finish these mods in under an hour.
Everything the kit upgrades (full breakdown)
Tone — High-quality caps and corrected input-stage resistor values increase gain and cut noise, and a new cathode cap opens up the full tone range for a full low end that isn't flabby.
Tube Bias — The preamp tube runs too cool (harsh, cold); adjusted cathode resistors let it run hotter for smoother, warmer tone. The power tube runs too hot (brittle); cooling it improves tone and extends tube life.
Brightness — Adds sparkle at low volumes, then eases off as you turn up so the amp never gets brittle when loud.
Power Stiffening — New corrected-value power-tube cathode cap and first-stage filter cap reduce noise and improve frequency response and dynamics.
Noise Reduction — Isolates the input jack from the chassis to prevent ground loops, and increases first-stage filter capacitance 5x to reduce ripple current and noise.
Proper Lead Dress — Clear instructions for twisting and routing the internal wiring the way boutique amps do, for lower noise and less oscillation.

Safety & warranty
Warning: These modifications WILL void your amplifier's warranty. Amps carry deadly voltages even when unplugged — follow the instructions carefully. If you're at all unsure of your ability, stop and have a professional do it, or send your amp to us.
No warranty: This kit and its instructions come with no warranty of any kind. Modifications are done at your own risk and you agree to hold the seller harmless against any and all claims. Tube amplifiers contain parts that operate at very high temperatures and deadly voltages; if you are not sure of your abilities, do not perform these mods.
