Fender '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Modifications
$ 99.95
Take your Princeton Reverb Reissue back to black-panel glory. The PRRI is arguably the most successful of Fender's reissues — this kit unlocks the clarity, clean headroom, and output it has always had in it, using the two most famous Princeton mods plus a full tone-stack upgrade.
Fender left an unused power rail in the Princeton (many believe deliberately, so it wouldn't rival its big brother, the Deluxe Reverb): the phase inverter shares its supply with the preamp tubes, which dulls what's fed to the power tubes. This kit fixes that — and it's easy to do at home with our full-color online instructions.
Which option should I order?
- Supreme — the ultimate upgrade: the Mod Kit and the Recap Kit combined (every component from both). Start here.
- Recap — filter & cathode cap refresh to keep a tired amp running clean and quiet.
- Have us install — send us your amp and we'll do the whole job (parts + labor).
Most players with basic soldering skills can finish the mods in a couple of hours.
What the mod does, in detail
“Stokes” mod — Moves the phase inverter's power supply to the unused anode in the filtering circuit, so the power tubes finally get a clean, full-strength signal.
“Paul C.” mod — Converts the phase inverter tube from cathode bias to fixed bias. Together with the Stokes mod, this adds clarity, clean headroom, output, depth, and transient response.
Updated ground scheme — A revised grounding layout that significantly lowers noise and sounds better when driven hard.
Tone-stack upgrade — Higher-quality metal-film resistors and WIMA/MLCC capacitors for tonal improvement and a more efficient circuit.

Safety, warranty & shipping
Warning: These modifications WILL void your amplifier's warranty. Amps carry deadly voltages even when unplugged — follow the instructions carefully. If you're at all unsure of your ability, stop and have a professional do it, or send your amp to us.
No warranty: This kit and its instructions come with no warranty of any kind. Modifications are done at your own risk and you agree to hold the seller harmless against any and all claims. Tube amplifiers contain parts that operate at very high temperatures and deadly voltages; if you are not sure of your abilities, do not perform these mods.
All orders are processed within three business days. International shipments may be delayed up to six weeks depending on customs.
